[break][break] those words of CIAN MAHER rang in his head even weeks later, after he'd made his promise. he was going to try — but where did that even begin?

[break][break] he had spent so many months trying to lay low, to try to hide from THEO BECKETT wrath, to ignore the world crumbling around him. everything after their father's death had been so dark; it would have been a mercy to let someone like Cillian Quinn or Elisabeth Fiorelli make the killing blow. but now, for some reason still, he was here again.

[break][break] chained down by rocket. in the streets, heralded by their name and their cause.

[break][break] certainly, this wasn't what cian had meant when he said he'd had to try. his brother had meant that he needed to try and leave. he needed to get his head out of the sand and try to do what CIAN MAHER and boruta maher had done.

Tori's steps were light and soft as she made her way towards the meeting point. She was already donned with a newly acquired mask of her own. She had to get another one made after Roy Aker had ruined hers during their battle in Sootopolis.

[break][break] Violet hues narrowed as she stared into caden maher's silver ones. She knew who he was prior to their meet up due to having perused over their mission dossier prior to showing up. She'd heard whispers about this one. The blood of traitors flowed deep within him. She could already feel her lips curl into a snarl underneath her mask as she tore her gaze from him.

[break][break] She brushed past him with little to no acknowledgement but a subtle grunt in response to his...eagerness to get this mission over with. Now that was something the both of them had in common.

[break][break] There was a bunker here that was assumed to hold supplies that Rocket could requisition for themselves since they had taken over Petalburg. But the reports also mentioned a haunting within the building. The grunts that had managed to find the thing were unable to bring themselves to handle the situation themselves so Tori found herself here.

[break][break] A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she trudged forward. This wasn't her first time in this specific scenario. *In fact it was her third, but who was really counting?

[break][break] As they approached there was a notable dip in temperature as the inched closer to the entrance of the bunker. Tori slowed her pace to a halt before reaching for a pokeball attached to the belt on her hip. With a flash her Hisuian Zorua was by her side. Just like her he was quite used to this sensation and was ready and able to lead the way.

[break][break] With a click of her tongue Zero yipped in response before quickly bounding forward towards the rusted metal door that was deeply embedded into the ground. Tori, not one to shy from a challenge, reached out and tugged on the door to no avail. With a groan she grabbed an additional pokemon and released her Melmetal, Hephaestus. As it approached it reached forward and pried the door open with much more ease than Tori ever could.

[break][break] With a chilling crack and deafening pop, the door swung open with a puff of smoke or dust billowing out of it. Violet hues narrowed on her Zorua as he quickly took the lead and she followed. They would all descend deep into the underground abandoned bunker. As they slowly marched further down into the pit she flicked one of her flashlights on before glancing towards Caden.

[break][break] "Do you need one?" she asked. Mostly looking to make this mission progress more efficiently rather than to be helpful or anything. She still didn't like or trust this man.

[break][break] not only was he dragging himself through this grunt mission just for kicks, but now his mission partner was a bitch.

[break][break] fuck caden. fuck the world. why was it him that always had to deal with shit like this?

[break][break] "eager, aren't ya?" he muttered under his breath, but loud enough that she could hear, as he slid past her. her bad mood leaked into his, though he didn't know for what fucking reason her bad mood was.

[break][break] 'because it's you,' a needling voice inside his head reminded him. 'you're a traitor marked for death, remember?'

[break][break] all because of CIAN MAHER and fucking THEO BECKETT.

[break][break] his eyes narrowed as they headed towards the bunker, but he was glad at least that she was willing to take charge. made things easier for him. he was more than willing to let the bitch just drag him around if it meant that they could get this mission over with.

[break][break] she was quick to release her pokemon to explore the exposed bunker, where as his movement was slower — quieter. trailing pink smoke, his musharna floated beside him, it's eyes glowing with the power of FUTURE SIGHT to see what was in store for head of them.

[break][break] "hm?"

[break][break] his head cocked towards her, before a sly smile formed on his lips.

[break][break] "nah," he shrugged, sliding closer to her. "we can just share."
